The April Sunday School Service Sunday focused on God’s Great Creation.  Seeds were planted (300!) Garden Stepping Stones were designed!  Seed paper was made with paper, water and a blender! Coloring books were put together to teach and to use in our Sonshine Bags! Thank you to all who participated! We had a Garden tunnel that we explored to understand and learn that God has planted each of us to be His Disciples.   He waters us with His Word and Water in Baptism,  we Fertilize our lives with Bible Study, Worship, Prayer, Fruits of the Spirit and Love, And when we get covered with Sin, He Cleans Us because we believe and confess in our hearts that Jesus conquered death!  We are constantly being “recycled” to do God’s work! We ended the morning with “recycling ideas, projects, and yo-yo gifts given by the Marion County DKMM, Angie Carbetta! We left singing the song “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands!”

Please Note: Over the course of the past twelve months, and beginning this year, our Church has had to approve just under $100,000 to replace Air Conditioning systems. While these are all larger units, there is still one large and several smaller units that will need watching as well. This is of course a significant amount and has nearly depleted our Building Fund as well as a bequest and several emergency funds that made up the difference. If you are considering making a contribution to the Church, above and beyond your commitment to regular expenses, please consider the Building Fund as we need to rebuild this fund as it’s not a matter of if there will be a need for additional maintenance to the Church, it is a matter of when.  Thanks for your help! Rex Parrott, Treasurer – Paula Burnside, Director Bd. of Finance

The May Fellowship Lunch will be held Thursday, May 3 at 11:30a.m. The speaker is Dr. Vale from the Marion Medical Campus speaking on “Sugar Is Bad For You!”  Menu: Taco Salad and Angel Food Cake. Plan now to join us! Circle the F and number attending on your yellow attendance slip.

The next Waldo Fresh Food Distribution will be held on  Friday, May 4 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Waldo. Donations needed for May: toilet paper, first aid & personal care items.  Food distribution will be held from 11:00 to 2:00; volunteers need to report around 9:30/10:00. A signup sheet is posted in the Gathering Space if you would like to volunteer.

The Comfort Quilters Fund has been depleted. The money is used to purchase batting.  We can make 19 quilts from one roll of 45 yards of batting.  The last roll we purchased was on sale for $166.55.  The batting we have on hand will allow us to work three Tuesday mornings.  We would appreciate any help you can give us to replenish the fund so we can continue to make the quilts. We can also use bath blankets in place of batting.

Vacation Bible School: Because of the possibility of added snow days for local schools, Vacation Bible School has been moved to June 11-14.

Vacation Bible School @ Emanuel June 11-14:  I want to invite you to have you and your children be a part of our Vacation Bible School this summer at Emanuel. Our theme is SHIPWRECKED!  Jesus Rescues!  I know this is early notice, but knowing how full schedules are and how difficult it is to find babysitting and transportation, I wanted to give you plenty of time to prepare!  We will begin each morning at 9:00a.m., lunch will be served at 11:00a.m. and ending at 11:30a.m. We will travel through the island with Bible stories, science experiments, games, music, and mission!  We are looking for volunteers!  If you can help or have any questions at all, please feel free to contact me!
